On November 11, 2001 Amy Breidenbach opened Catfish Max at its original location in Seaford’ s Old Harbor Marina. It wasn’t long before her tiny five table restaurant became THE place to go for really great food. After rave reviews from the NY Times and Newsday, their phones rang nonstop, guests waited patiently for an open table and reservations were booked for months in advance. Amy's first restaurant venture was a raving success!
Two years later, Amy was ready to expand her business and her mom, Maureen, was looking forward to moving on and getting out of the business. Cap's Restaurant was then sold by mother to daughter and proudly re-named Catfish Max. Amy kicked things up a few notches and opened the doors of her newly relocated restaurant on March 19, 2003. The date was significant to the Breidenbach family. It was the birthday of Jim "Cap" Breidenbach who had passed away five years earlier.
A Brief History...
In 1947, the Naomi Inn welcomed its first customers who migrated from 'the city' to spend summers in Seaford. The Naomi Inn had many loyal customers who could - in one stop - gas up their boats, pick up a six-pack, buy some fresh bait, and take off for a day of fishing. The Naomi Inn became a Seaford Harbor landmark.

In 1984, The Naomi Inn became Cap's Restaurant & Bar when Amy's parents and novice restauranteurs Maureen (Cooperative Extension Youth Worker) and Jim Breidenbach (retired FDNY fire captain) came to town. Following the tradition of its history, Cap's continued to be the neighborhood gathering place where good food was served... the pool table was open... and the juke box cranked. Jim ran the bar; Maureen made sure there was plenty to eat.
Today, Amy has expanded her customer base to include folks who migrate from 'the city' to dine in Seaford!
And so the beat goes on....
